According to the "experts," the best we could hope for weatherwise was a slight chance of rain showers. The local TV meteorologists were all saying that the current weather system would pass to the east of us, with the folks to the south being more likely to get the rain than us.
I am happy to report that they are so wrong. The rain started falling at about 10 last night and has been falling steadily since. It's one of those nice soft rains unaccompanied by wind. it is having ample opportunity to soak into the ground. There is even a possibility that this could continue through Monday.
