Today's throwaway remarks

This all started two weeks ago. We got a letter... ya know with stamps on it ...from the power company warning us that they were gonna replace a power pole in the neighborhood today and that the power would probably be turned off from 8:00am until around 3:00pm.
Do you think I remembered?
It probably wouldn't have made much difference if I had.
Probably the most inconvenient part of the whole situation is that even though we have mostly natural gas appliances, they require electricity to operate. So we had no heat. Have I mentioned that the overnight temperatures have been at the freezing point for the last couple of days?

Oh yeah and I missed checking my email every couple of hours and seeing what was blogged since yesterday.

  1. Isn't it amazing how we take for granted the ability to flick a switch and get instant light? We had a power cut while we were in France a week or two back - just as we were proposing to put the kettle on! I think it might have been a result of a car bringing down an electricity pole as when we wanted to drive to Pouance later the road was closed. Next day we saw where the pole had been.

    Is "cruffle" almost apt?
