First landmark
This is Mt Shasta from about as close as one can get without actually setting foot on the mountain. The smaller promontory on the left is Shastina. When traveling from the south Mt Shasta is sometimes visible from almost 150 miles away.
What a wonderful view. And I meant to comment the other day that what might seem commonplace and ordinary to some is exotic and interesting to others. It was your picture of a freight train that brought this home to me especially. We don't have engines like that - and even freight trains are unusual in my part of the world!
