Black Hills

"The name Black Hills is a translation of the Lakota Pahá Sápa. The hills were so-called because of their dark appearance from a distance, as they were covered in trees."

They are the site of Mt. Rushmore.

But they're more than that. They are also home to the legendary town of Deadwood; Mt Harney, the highest point east of the Rocky Mountains; Sturgis is most famous for being the location of one of the largest annual motorcycle events in the world; the now closed Homestake Mine is in Lead; and the Spearfish Canyon winds its way north to... ohmygosh!.. Spearfish.

  2. The weather was turning really crappy, it was getting late and we had to go back to Rapid City so we decided to skip the ceremony because it was taking forever.
