The eagle isn't all we saw Saturday
We also cruised up the river to see what the Cypress Avenue Bridge looks like from underneath.
We actually covered about ten miles of the river (twenty miles round-trip).
Note: the motor in the photo is an auxiliary used for trolling
That is new construction. The Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is replacing the existing structure. It is a combination of upgrading to handle traffic and to meet the new standards for resisting damage from earthquakes. There is another bridge about a mile north also being upgraded. In fact at one point about a year ago it seemed like every bridge across the Sacramento Rive, save two, was under some kind of repair or construction. One had already been completed. Maybe they're just going to let the other collapse?
Is the bridge still under construction or repair?
