Another busy day

After I went to Orland this morning for a Lions Club gathering; then to Gabe's final baseball game (Little League) and awards gathering; we took a jetboat ride on the Sacramento River, where we just happened to see a Bald Eagle and I just happened to have my camera handy.

Sorry it's so blurry. He was about 80 feet in the air and about a quarter mile away.

  1. Isn't it thrilling when you spot one? We occasionally have them fly along the river in our backyard. The population has really grown in recent years. Along the Columbia River we never used to see them, but now they are almost a common sight.

  2. I'd known there are some along the river... and Redding has a nesting pair right next to a major bridge construction site... but this was the first time I've seen one at rest. He never moved from that spot the entire time we were there. On Easter, while we were "hiding" eggs, I saw three soaring above the river.
