Amazing little trip

One overnight can really spoil things. While we were at Fairfield the 18 day series of triple digit temperatures ended here at home. . . it never reached 100 on Friday.
Travel in each direction was without incident, though it is almost culture shock to transition from our two-lane freeway to the six lanes of the Capitol Corridor (Sacramento to the San Francisco Bay Area).
I wonder what it's like for the folks who drive those freeways to adjust to the rural ones? I think maybe I have an inkling. They are the ones who are always trying to be at least one vehicle ahead. Another thing about those multi-lane freeways is that it seems lik no mattr how lmany lanes there are, it's not enugh. It is really strange to see traffic baqcked up bumper to bumper at 9:00pm.
Well, anyway, the climate adjustment to Fairfield was easy because it was about 15-20 degrees cooler. The best surprise was Saturday morning. We woke to sunshine, but when I went outside and looked toward the hills to the west, the fog had come all the way in from the bay and was creeping over the top of the hills.
We arrived back home Saturday night just in time to see the temperature reach 100 again. Fortunately that was not the start of the of a new streak. Now we only have to deal with the 90s for awhile.
