So we're home safe and relatively sound.
Outside of the lengthy plenary sessions... they all ran a little long because, with possibly one or two exceptions, the speakers used all of the time allotted for them... this convention ranks right at the top of the list of best conventions.
Okay, you should know why is ranks to high. Here are just a few of the reasons:
>>>1. The people who live there were genuinely happy to see us. Even the media gave the convention coverage almost every day
>>>2. Transportation was fantastic. Buses ran constantly
>>>3. Everything was nearby. I mean it was close enough to walk. The best part was that it was all in the same building
>>>4. The weather was just right
Then on top of that, the public transportation is a delight, particularly the light rail system, called the Hiawatha, that runs from downtown Minneapolis, through the terminals at the airport to the Mall of America.
Yes, we went to the mall. Then we turned around and came back. It's huge... unless you compare it to the airport. The round trip fare is very reasonable. Had I been aware that it was so easy and convenient, I might even have used it for transfer between the airport and the hotel, which is only two blocks from the station.
Oh! the title of this post refers to the error message I received when I first attempted to publish this post.

I too would have been happy to turn around on reaching the Mall. They are not really my kind of place.
ReplyDeleteTo some folks over here a journey to the Mall of America is like making a pilgrimage to Mecca.
ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it, there are some folks who have only traveled to England so they can visit Harrods.
Hmm. Up in Yorkshire they say that there's nowt so queer as folk, which just about sums it up.
ReplyDeleteOver here we can't use the word queer without receiving at least a raised eyebrow from those who would consider it politically incorrect to use it to describe others... even when used properly. We are now reduced to acronyms.
ReplyDeleteSame here, but I'm not PC.
