Somehow the pols in Sacramento have managed to screw things up so bad that they've felt the need to call a special election to get the electorate of California to fix the financial situation that our elected representatives have created. In essence what they are asking the voters to do is allow them to take monies designated for one thing and spend it elsewhere.
To my way of thinking it appears that the programs which have been careful and thrifty with their spending are going to be penalized for their frugality if the measures on the ballot pass.
The only reason I even bring this up is that:
1) we normally have a much longer period of time between elections
2) elections are normally held on the 2nd Tuesday of either June or November (except for Presidential primaries)
3) these special elections aren't free and we really are paying the folks in Sacramento a lot of money so we shouldn't have to do this.
As a side note, I never received an invitation to the polls... hmmmmm!
