There are some exceptions

Cormack McCarthy's The Road has been made into a movie.
I have been mostly disappointed with Hollywood's treatment of things I've read. So much so that I haven't been to the movies in about 30 years. I probably haven't watched a DVD in 18 months and I avoid many of the films they show on TV.
