What can I say?
There are at least two topics that I strive mightily to refrain from expressing an opinion about. One is religion, the other, politics. I stay away from them because they are quite personal for many folks and it is too easy to inadvertently step on someone's toes. Yeah, and it's easy for my feelings to be hurt when someone tells me I'm stupid because I disagree with them evn though I can backup what I say with cold hard facts. It is becoming more and more difficult to avoid politics today because the politicians have inserted themselves into so many of the things that affect our daily lives. I used to enjoy discussing economics. Now it has become talking about the politics of money so now it is no longer a topic that is on the table.

ReplyDeleteSeen any good films lately?
ReplyDeleteWe could have a long discussion about all the films we've not seen. About the only ones that have been watched here lately are those that are chopped up for television. I couldn't even begin to name any.
ReplyDeleteSounds like that's another non-starter conversation-wise.
ReplyDeleteSad, huh?
ReplyDeleteBut we could always talk about books.
ReplyDeleteAs long as nobody asks me to interpret any of them.
ReplyDeleteDon't bother with the interpretation on my account. I speak the same language as you. Well, nearly the same language.
ReplyDeleteY'see? We're already at cross purposes with words. You thought I meant translate. I only meant understand
ReplyDeleteOh dear, silly me. Still, tho' we may be at cross purposes, at least we are not exchanging cross words or crossing swords. But I happen to like crosswords.
ReplyDeleteHow many comments are there before they become a discussion?
ReplyDeleteNow that is something that is still open for discussion.
